The Catherine Acholonu Centre
for African Studies was set up as a research outfit aimed at
separating fact from fiction and to search out and
document Black Africa's Cultural and Scientific
contributions to human civilization. A major entry point
of its work is the research work on the Ikom Monoliths
of Cross River State, Nigeria. More than 300 inscribed
ancient stones located in the villages and forests of
Ikom Local government in South Eastern Nigeria which
have attracted researchers for over a century. The
centre began work on the monoliths in 2001.
